A bit about me
I’m Rachel Potter, and my pronouns are ‘she/her’. I’m a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW), a queer-identified psychotherapist, and an EMDR clinician. I’m the sole proprietor of Potter Behavioral Health, and I contract with Through Therapy Collective in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
I began my career in 2012, and have had the privilege and joy of working in community mental health with folks transitioning out of the carceral system, with people experiencing homelessness, and with elders with economic and chronic medical care needs. In 2023, I transitioned to private practice, where I’m able to use my training, experience, and ______(who I am… passion, enthusiasm, spirit, joy, humanity)_____, and expand the scope of my practice and with whom I work.
In 2020, I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy. I have found this type of therapy to be particularly effective and efficient in healing and overcoming a variety of issues – disturbing & distressing experiences, trauma & PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief & loss, anger, along with other challenges life may bring. For these reasons, more often than not, I use EMDR to facilitate folks in reaching the goals they’ve set out to accomplish in therapy.
I enjoy working with a variety of people, experiences, and realities. Humans are complex and dynamic, and that can be so beautiful, especially when given the resources and opportunity to actualize their potential. I’m here to accompany you along the way.
I’m based in the Twin Cities, offering in-person sessions at my office in St. Paul, Minnesota. I also offer telehealth sessions to folks across Minnesota and Massachusetts.
